Magic? No. Just good old kosher values.
When Shmuel Wasserman started a family, he got a job in customer service. He saw firsthand how essential it is to put the customer first. It inspired him to build a company based on transparency and uncompromising quality. However, when he ventured into the kosher food industry, he faced what felt like an insurmountable challenge.
Kosher food was becoming more accessible, but less transparent. Companies that did emphasize transparency were not as accessible to the average consumer.
Shmuel knew there had to be a better way. He created Kosher Value, where quality, values, and kosher are one and the same. Kosher Value stands out as an innovative company resting on the oldest set of values known to man: Kosher values.
What are Kosher Values?
CEO & Founder
When Shmuel was starting a family, he moved to Israel. He got his first job at a meat and chicken company as a customer service account representative. He excelled at delivering unparalleled experiences to his customers and was soon hired by a large hi tech company as head of customer service. When he came to Chicago in 2007, he joined Shallots Bistro as co-owner and manager. He then ventured into wholesale kosher distribution and built Midtown Kosher Distribution into a national provider. Today he is bringing these same values and service to the broader community with Kosher Value. Shmuel loves to go fishing, kayaking, boating, skiing, and biking. Favorite kosher meal? His wife’s homemade Morrocan style fish, jalapenos and chickpeas are key.
Bio Ahraon is a maverick who maneuvers between HR, customer service, and sales. You may even find him overseeing warehouse operations and negotiating with vendors. A Chicago native, Aharon took some time to travel in the United States and Israel before joining the team at Kosher Value. He is diligently earning a degree in business and is passionate about finance and investment banking. In the spare time he doesn’t really have, he tinkers with automobiles and plays guitar. Favorite kosher meal? Brisket flatbreads.
Bio Chaim has an extensive background in the culinary arts. Originally from Georgia, he and his new bride pursued degrees at the Jerusalem School of Kosher Culinary Arts. They fondly recall this experience as their honeymoon. Chaim went on to fill various roles in the fine dining establishments of New York City and Baltimore as a specialty meat carver and chef. When Sam invited him to join the Kosher Value team, it was an instant fit. Their mutual desire to explore new horizons in the kosher food industry is a recipe for excellence. Chaim enjoys all tasty food as long as it is prepared properly. In fact, he prefers his wife and mother’s cooking over anyone else’s. When he isn’t artfully carving meat, he can be found horseback riding, water rafting, and biking. Favorite kosher meal? Hot pastrami on a toasted kaiser roll, red onions, Guss’s pickles from Lower East Side, and coarse ground dijon mustard.
Executive Chef & Meat Manager
Michael oversees our meat cutting, deli, recipes, and all hands on food prep. A true son of Chicago, food runs in his blood. Michael’s grandparents and parents have owned restaurants and Michael himself worked at the premier Shallots Bistro as a sous chef. He was also the executive sushi chef at Evita Argentinian Steakhouse in Chicago and a number of other fine dining kosher establishments in Chicago. He loves the ambition of his fellow Kosher Value team members and values the hunger they exhibit to succeed. His passion is obviously cooking, but he also makes time for sports and is a die hard Chicago fan. Favorite Kosher Food? Yapchik! It’s still a newfound pleasure, but quite exquisite.
General Warehouse Manager
Bio Brett oversees daily operations from picking to shipping to receiving. His super power is creating procedures, implementing systems, and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. Brett grew up in Skokie, IL where his father owned the iconic Slice of Life kosher restaurant for thirty years. He received a degree in hospitality and business at Michigan State and has extensive experience in front-of-house work, and all levels of management. He was excited to join the Kosher Value team so he can give back to the community and make sure there is a strong kosher presence in the Chicago area. He loves to read, spend time with his fiancée, and play basketball and Fantasy Football. Favorite kosher meal? Pastrami on white braided challah, whole grain mustard, and a can of Coke to wash it down.

She loves working as part of a team to please our customers. Originally from France, Sandra spent her Sunday’s biking and walking around the Palais de Versailles. She earned an MBA at University of Louisiana and returned to France for an additional master’s degree in International Business. With the blood of an entrepreneur and the soul of a diligent worker, Sandra has spent the last thirty years of her career adding value to the businesses she works with. She loves to read biographies related to Jewish history and World War II and spend time with her kids. Favorite kosher meal? Homemade matzo ball soup.
